Taking it back old school....

This past Tuesday John and I went to Medieval Times. ha- ha! Yep, you heard it right!!! I had been wanting to go for a while now, every time we drive by I remind myself. So i decided, it's spring break... lets do it! John had never been before, and It had been probably close to 15 years since I had been. We had a lot of fun though. I think the desire to go back will be satisfied for many years!! I told john maybe when our kid is 10 or so... =)

Prayers for Pogo

Well, this is an overdue post. Life... don't you just love how it gets in the way sometimes?! Work has been keeping me busy this year!! Today is the first official day of spring break, but Ill save those goodies for another post. Right now I am writing about 1 of the most important, wise, caring, men in my life. Yes-- he is furry, barks and has a tail... Pogo.
This might not be the best photo of him, however it's the best depiction of him =)

Late Friday night, after celebrating spring break with some co workers, John and I got home and I noticed that pogo was dragging his hind legs behind him in attempts to walk. Now, John has told me and I have heard about slipped discs from other dachshund owners... and so I instantly had an AWFUL feeling in the pit of my stomach. I lost it, completely. Probably a little over board, but I am sorry-- I love my dogs. This one has a special place in my heart for how wonderful he is to me and my annoying pup, Dakota. After a sleepless (for john) and long (for me) night... we woke up Saturday and took Pogo to the vet, only to have our fears confirmed. There were positives in there though.

1. Pogo did have feeling in his legs.
2. we could not see the actual disc that had slipped on the stray.

The vet put him on steroids and muscle relaxers and we were told to wait and come back Monday to check on his progress.

Well here we are, Monday... and I can tell you it's been a long, uneventful week since that awful night Friday night. Pogo went for his check up and we found out that he is making progress. And that he would be a perfect candidate for the back surgery that would potentially give his mobility back. As of now he isn't really walking at all, he will try but it's like his back legs are asleep... he drunkenly tries to get footing but is unsuccessful. It breaks my heart. =( The surgery is just out of our means financially, were teachers... and $3,000 minimum is just impossible for us.

I ask for your prayers. Pogo is somewhat of a healer to the people in his life, and now he needs the healing. I can sit next to him on the couch and love him till I have no more love to give but I truly feel that the only true healer for Pogo is God. My mom always tells me what a powerful thing prayer is and Pogo is definately a creature deserving of your thoughts and prayers. I believe that he is a fighter and can come back from this with His help. I will happily keep you posted on his progress but please, please just include him when you say your prayers at night. If you have met him, you know what a wonderful furry guy he truly is, and MY life has been bless and changed thanks to him.

Redecorating ITCH

OK. So... occasionally (I have been better the past year or two) I get this itch to redecorate/rearrange my home, or my classroom. Well... I have the itch, however I am a little frustrated because the way the living room is laid out at our apartment is almost impossible to move things around. The way it was, well, it was fine. But I always felt like something was missing. So, I have added my desk into the living room & I LOVE where it is right now! Right in front of the window, so I can leave it open and watch the dogs sun bathe, or yell at them when they're being obnoxious, either way. However, the seating in the room is just... off. We can't get it to where we just love it. SO. I decided to give up and leave it be for now... which just sort of drives me insane.

Music News: I found this killer band, Bootstraps. I am really digging them and their pretty chill sound. Perfect for a warmish/cool depending how you look at it... day like today. :) I love when I find a new good musician. mmmmm

We are BLESSED to have a 3 day weekend this weekend & I am loving it. We currently have no real plans, which is nice. The whole "lifestyle change" kinda takes the whole bar scene/hh/drinking period out, so were kinda chilling. I am thinking about taking dakota to the dog park and taking some pictures of him. I haven't really been shooting much lately and definitely need to get on it.

I am now off to continue my day with some pinterest, grocery shopping, movie/tv show watching and time with a few of my fav boys. Enjoy your day!

Blessings.

Well Hello, 2012...

Well. It's definitely been a while. I have been wobbling on if I should move to tumblr or not which has detoured me from blogging, period. (To all my many faithful readers out there... !)

2011 was here and gone pretty quick in my house. I was on my death bed, seriously... I was pretty close to dying. Combo of: bronchitis, upper respiratory infection & pharyngitis. So, I spent my NYE in the doctors office, pharmacy and in bed. In fact, I was asleep by 8:30, and luckily woke up just in time to say Happy New Year to John... and pass back out. It took me about a week to recover.

I have never been a big ny resolution kind of person. John and I made a "11 in 2011" list of things we wanted to do this past year... I succeeded in completing 1 task-- and that was to begin my photography business. I was sort of disappointed when I read and discovered this. So that inspired me to not really try making that again. I have things that I hope to accomplish this year, or begin, but I don't want to set myself up for failure.I guess you could say the overall theme of my hopes for the year is a life style change. I want to change my health, my finances, my relationships. So.. I, as everyone else on the planet, hope to loose some weight. I began the biggest losers-- 30 day jump start on Monday. {CORRECTION: I started on Monday and since I am a horrible blogger it is now Saturday that I am completing this post...} Outcome of the first 6 days, -5 pounds! WAHOO!

More on the other 2 later.

Thanksgiving-itis

HOLY COW! It's is 3:20 on Friday yet? Could this week go ANY slower? Kids are done, I am done... all makes for a very educational day.

In my free time I've been checking out my secret obsession, Pintrest, for decoration ideas for our party were having on Saturday. I have been very successful and am excited to DIY on Friday and Saturday. I am even MORE excited to spend time with wonderful friends that I am very thankful for! John is going to make a fancy turkey courtesy of the Alton Brown. (Johns cookspiration)

Anyhoo-- very excited about this.

Not as excited about making 130 pumpkin gingerbread muffins tonight... sigh.

Wish me luck!

Footloose!

No, I am not referring to the new remake of the movie Footloose. It is a remake, right? I haven't even seen a preview, nor really care to. EH! What I am referring to is the song-- and an 80s charity event/party for the organization paws in the city. I went with my good friend, Miss Lindsay Springer and 2 of her friends...who became new friends of mine! Definately a fun night! We dressed up 80s style, and I was even nominated to be a contestant in the costume contest... might have been one of the most embarrassing moments of my life, hands down! Anyway, fun times and for a good cause---good night! :) Here are some pictures from the evening!
